Seaweed Forage & Tasting

Our last Seaweed Forage and Tasting for 2016 takes place on Sunday, October 16th. We've chosen this date to coincide with the Hunter's Moon, when there will be a good low tide. Meeting outside Mother McHugh's Pub in Fenor Village at 11 am, foraging at a nearby beach, followed by a seaweed brunch tasting, we will finish around 1.30 pm. Several edible species of seaweed will be identified and you will learn how to distinguish these from non-edibles, how to use them in a variety of ways, how to use seaweed to enhance your garden soil and how to use seaweed in skincare. The small group will allow plenty of time for questions. To book, use the Paypal link here. You will then receive an email with more details about the forage.

About Us

We are passionate about seaweed - foraging for it, cooking with it, sharing our knowledge and experience with others, sustainably using it, recognising that it is part of an important and quite amazing ecological web.

Marie Power, aka, The Sea Gardener, grew up on the Copper Coast of Co. Waterford and leads walks, give talks & workshops on seaweed and rocky shore ecology for people who want to know more about this indigenous health food.
