Living from the Sea

Living from the Sea Most people know that seaweed is good for us. It's got lots of iodine and we know how important that is. Seaweed also has a huge range of vitamins & minerals, is high in protein and research is ongoing into it's many health benefits. We're going to talk about some of those in the Fitfood and Wellness Tent on the Plaza at Waterford Harvest Festival. Join us at 1 pm on Saturday September 10th for a relaxed chat about our native wonderfood. We are especially looking forward to meeting older people who have used seaweed throughout their lives and younger (and middle-aged!) people who have heard a little of the benefits of seaweed, but are new to using it. We will facilitate the passing on of valuable knowledge about seaweed! This session is free and no need to book.

About Us

We are passionate about seaweed - foraging for it, cooking with it, sharing our knowledge and experience with others, sustainably using it, recognising that it is part of an important and quite amazing ecological web.

Marie Power, aka, The Sea Gardener, grew up on the Copper Coast of Co. Waterford and leads walks, give talks & workshops on seaweed and rocky shore ecology for people who want to know more about this indigenous health food.
