Summer has arrived..

Summer has arrived and The Sea Gardener is out and about, leading foraging walks and talks.

Upcoming events:

Into the west……come and meet Marie at the Kenmare Food Carnival on Sunday July 14th where she will lead the Seaweed Safari.

You will find out how, when and where to forage for  edible seaweeds. The walk starts from Kenmare Pier at 11.30 am with a trip on the Eco-safari boat to Dromquinna Pier.

There, we will disembark and walk along the shore. We plan to be back at Kenmare Pier by 2 pm. Wear waterproof, slip-proof footwear (e.g. wellies, old runners, hiking boots). Booking is with the Carnival Office :  Kenmare Food Carnival

Places are limited to 30 people, so booking essential.

We will be selling The Sea Garden – a guide to seaweed cookery and foraging at a special Kenmare Carnival rate of €12.

About Us

We are passionate about seaweed - foraging for it, cooking with it, sharing our knowledge and experience with others, sustainably using it, recognising that it is part of an important and quite amazing ecological web.

Marie Power, aka, The Sea Gardener, grew up on the Copper Coast of Co. Waterford and leads walks, give talks & workshops on seaweed and rocky shore ecology for people who want to know more about this indigenous health food.
